Assoc. Prof. Celal ÇERÇİ

He was born in Ereğli, on the Black Sea coast, in 1966. After completing his primary, secondary and sixth-form education there, he began his medical studies at the Faculty of Medicine, Ankara University, in 1984. He began his professional career as a general practitioner in 1990 and continued in this role for four years.

In 1994, he began his specialist training at the Faculty of Medicine, Süleyman Demirel University, and was awarded the title of specialist in general surgery in 1999. After practising as a specialist for a period, he began working as an academic at the Faculty of Medicine, Süleyman Demirel University, in 2003 and was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2009.

Since 2009, he has undertaken training in the field of obesity and metabolic surgery and has begun performing the relevant operations. He continues his work particularly in the field of advanced laparoscopic surgery (laparoscopic hernia repair, laparoscopic bowel surgery, laparoscopic gastric surgery) and in the field of oncological surgery.
